Let's Do Something

This is the day I decided to really start what I've been contemplating for a while, a cultural revolution via a new electronic music and art scene. It is going to be an integrated scene where in the city it is started in, which is Pittsburgh.....producers are going to be accentuated through what I would call collaborative effort of getting events and venues together and furthermore, once the pittsburgh section is developed I am going to work on connecting the dots to other cities and have one continuous flow of culture, from city to city, state to state, country to country, continent to continent. It is something that will take much hard work but in the end will be so worth it and will bring unification within our society.

Birds of Paradise-Lucid Dream (clip) by Bird of Prey

This track is pretty awesome. But what I am talking about is totally possible being that social networking and blogging websites are so prevalent now. We are in the midst of a social/cultural revolution and its not that everything should come together but everything MUST come together.

This one time at BANDCAMP!

So as you may be familiar I am SoundCloud junkie and it seems these days SoundCloud goes hand in hand with BandCamp, SoundCloud being mainly focused towards electronically based music where in BandCamp focuses on instrumental music obviously. I just started delving into the world of BandCamp and have found myself quite satisfied and intrigued. SoundCloud and BandCamp are how music has evolved being that all the music is accessible to anyone (a limited selection is able to be downloaded for free), therefore switching the focus from profit to musical creativity and integrity. For a long time there has been much debate about whether we should be charged for listening to an artists music being if we get it for free we are hurting the monetary gain of that artist. Well with napster and torrents and things like that we are downloading music without the artists consent, yet with SoundCloud and BandCamp all the music is put up by the artist therefore we have more than the consent. Many of these artists share the same common values of making music abundant and accessable to everyone being the idea of music is to create with sound, not to maximize profits, granted.....musicians have to survive toooo.

So I wonder if doing drugs in space would be much alike listening to this music?? Either way drugs in space would be fucking crazy!!

Something kinda hit me today.....

I need to start posting more...

So I have been out of the loop for a while, I plan to be right back into it though as this morning I discovered some music on SoundCloud that I found quite intriguing.

Prof.Logik X ManOfTheDown-A Man Of Logik by proflogik

I like the abstract hiphop, it has an extremely cultural feel to it.....it gives me hope that hip hop really isn't dead.....

Do keep a full loop of a network I always friend the artists I follow on Sound Cloud on Facebook, this guy is apparently from Queens....our only mutual friend is Perris Dietrich whom is a local experimental electronic music producer.

Gnome feat. Magmatic Magnanimous - Shut Your Fuckin' Mouth (Wick-it Remix) by Wick-it the Instigator

Wick-It The Instigator is a dubstep producer out of Nashville, his music isn't new to his blog, I would really like to visit Nashville sometime being that it seems very culturally flourescent.

Intelligent MUSIC

http://soundcloud.com/lefrenk

Spanish IDM producer. I am listening to one of his tracks at this very moment and I really enjoy how soft and progressive his music is, positive emotion runs high as I enjoy "Celeste". Lately I have diverted a bit from the dubstep, electro house, and drum n bass being I am trying to broaden my horizons. I have been exploring more minimal electronic, and IDM and experimental. I think electronic dance music can get really repetitive and annoying and I think that IDM is a sector of electronic music that needs to be fully engaged.

Lefrenk - Yellow Sky (Original Mix) ¨Deep Different¨ by lefrenk

http://soundcloud.com/groj

This is another IDM producer whom resides in Canada but is orginally from Australia. The prior producer based his IDM more in techno, minimal, and house. This producer could be classified as IDM/glitch. Both producers are different, I am a sucker for glitch though. Here is the first track I heard from Groj.

Pittsburgh Progressive Electronic Music Scene

So it seems the group I started on facebook "Pittsburgh Progressive Electronic Music Scene" has become quite successful. It seems I have sparked a mass integration of local IDM and EDM producers. I have pushed past electronic music to integrate a lot of avante garde or experimental producers into the mix. People actually consistently post in this group, and I am proud to say the initiation of this group has sparked change within the community. Furthermore, people are hosting shows due to the presence of this group and the group helps.

Interview with Vannin

1. How would you describe your music? How would you describe both your method and and attitude towards producing electronic music?
I'd say it's a combination of melodic and grimey, well that's what i'm going for at least. I really enjoy the trance-y buildups and melodic intros into the heavy Dubstep drops. About 90% of the time i'll start a project by making patches (creating sounds in native instruments massive) and messing around/experimenting then i'll set them aside and come back to them later. It's an odd process but it helps me stay creative and when I open the project again i'll usually have cool ideas and build off of them. Also, I've been listening to electronic music since i was about 12-13, i started getting getting into trance around high school and it slowly became the only genre i would listen to, then I got into house around 2008. I actually didn't like Dubstep at all when I listened to it for the first time, being a trance kid I thought it was just a bunch of noises at half time, lol. But I slowly started reading into it and checking out more tunes and I ended up really enjoying it.

2. What program(s) do you use for production?
I use FL Studio & Native Instruments Massive.

3. How long have you been producing?
6 months now.

4. What inspired you to make electronic music?
Well my love for the music of course, but also the feeling I get when I watch people go crazy to my tunes really keeps me going.

5. How is the electronic music scene in SF?
It's actually really big but It's really repetitive. Same dj's, same venues etc etc. Vital Sc brings out the big dogs like rusko, borgore, skream, benga, the others, skrillex etc and keeps things interesting.

6. What would you say is the most popular sub genre in the electronic music scene in SF?
House for sure.

7, Are you strongly connected within your local community of producers and djs? Nationally? Internationally?
Yeah I have some producer's that I talk to from time to time. More US producers like getter, halo nova, kHoff, kaza but some international artists too like bytesize, addergebroed etc. It's nice to chat with them though, bounce ideas back and forth, get tips etc. :)

8. Do you feel that the uprising of technology via the internet via sound cloud could spark a possible cultural revolution being sound cloud is a growing community of producers that produce their music out of shear ambition and not for the purpose of monetary gain?
Yeah I use sound cloud myself, it's a really really awesome site to get in touch with other producers and amazing for self promotion, much better than myspace in my opinion. Instead of spamming a bunch of youtube links all you need to do is show someone your sound cloud and it has everything you want to show people right there.

9. How many shows have you played? Any festivals?
Well I used to DJ under the alias Digital Insomnia and I played a lot of shows under that name. All in all I've probably played over 130? I'm also open for bookings! Email me at vannin.sf@gmail.com if you're interested ;)

10. What other producers do you admire in the current electronic music scene?
Oh man this list is huuuuge. I find myself listening to a lot of Ferry Corsten, ATB, laidback luke, angger dimas, skrillex, gambit etc.

11. I really like your dubstep/psytrance track, Do you agree with me that dubstep really is a special genre because it has become so versatile and is increasingly so?
Thank you. Also yes, that's the main thing I love about dubstep, anything is possible. Literally anything. It's the genre without limits in my opinion.

12. What producers inspired you to producer the music you produce?
Dowlinks Gamma ray burst and Vaski's act like you know really drew me to dubstep but actually getting into producing it i'd say I just decided to give it a shot one day, lol.

13. Would you say your strengths lie in mixing or producing?
Well I don't feel I have many strengths in producing yet. I'm still very new.

14. Have you collaborated with any other producers? If not, do you plan to?
Yeah I've collaborated with kHoff, really talented guy. I also have two collabs in the works with Torus & I.Dot ;)

15. What are you working on currently that is not released yet to sound cloud?
Some trance tunes/drumstep stuff. It's sounding fucking nuts!

16. What are your thoughts on your preference program for producing music?
FL Studio is very very user friendly, i've tried reason and ableton but i couldn't get into it as much as i've gotten into FL

17. What equipment do you use to dj?
I Use CDJ's and a pair of Shure SRH750 DJ Headphones that I also use to produce with.

18. How socially accepted/popular is electronic music in your area?
100% Accepted. People bump EDM down the street in their cars and kids walking outside just dance. It's great, haha.

19. How do you feel about the status quo of planet earth?
2012.

20. Tell me a bit about the general attitudes in SF.
Cocky kids with no talent. Humble folk with mountains of talent yet no recognition. It's like hollywood. Haha.

So I am currently going through all of the producers I follow on Soundcloud and listening to their new tracks and sharing and reviewing them.

This is a track by BEAZT. Dubstep from New Jersey, I can definitely tell this producer has name some improvements. The complexity of his tracks have greatly heightened. Furthermore, I really like the eerie feel to his music, great time for a halloween rave!! :D

It really ticks me off when people aren't open to experimental electronic.....

So this chill experimental shit is AWESOME! The title of it refers to the drink Kambucha. It is a drink supposidely good for digestive health that they sell at whole foods, it's kinda nasty but its alright because its detoxifying.

Time for change

I find myself stumbling more than often, I find it is amusing, time consuming, and mind opening being it displays the internet in the broadest aspect. It also can help brighten my day, that is helpful especially when my day hasn't worked out as planned.

That article has really changed my thought process on everything. It has made me come to an ultimate realization that I don't have to suffer craving being I want to diet for my next bodybuilding show.
actually I do not even know how credible that really is, being the sources aren't 100% reliable and backed up.

LOL

That has never crossed my mind before, but I find that very LOLable. LOL

What's so funny about peace, love and understanding?

Well, it's not funny, it's just not profitable, and being our world is based on monetary gain and not human and environmental needs, peace, love and understanding is ultimately abandoned for the profit motive. As fucked up as that sounds, it is true to such an extent. It's frustrating how many people either don't believe it or don't care......that leaves a small group of people to do the job of changing the world. Yet, it has to be done, even if it is a small group of people that change things.....

PPEMS

We had our first meeting for PPEMS this Saturday at the Beehive in Southside. We are off to a very good start I think, we brainstormed things we would like to get accomplished in the next few weeks before out meeting on June 11th. The goals were as such:
1. Create an official website
2. Create a soundcloud
3. Look up music for samples
4. Collaborate in person
5. Find Venue
6. Get a set list of Djs
7. Work on a code of ethics
8. Establish a network

We took it a step further to give different people different roles. Mine were such:
1. I'll create soundcloud
2. Work on finding venue
3. Network establishment- artists
4. Work on code of ethics

1.Venue- We are working on finding a small venue for our first show, a legal venue, an affordable and appropriate one as well.

2.Set list of producers/djs
So far we have Adam Wolfe, Brian Adams, Mike Webar, Perris Dietrich, and Nice Nate.

3. Genre diversity- we want to deviate from the old rave scene to have a lot more genres like experimental noise, IDM, neurofunk, and glitchhop as well as all the other genres.

4. Integration of visual art. Our events will be art shows/shows. I will showcase my art.

How It Works

Space-Time, which is our dimension where space is three dimensional and time is linear, contains applied energy from time-space to enable it to exist. Time-space is what one would call "the 4th Dimension". Time is three-dimensional, therefore exists as a wave. You cannot move through space but you can move through time.

Fractal geometry explains that no matter how small something that exists is, it contain's everything that ever was, will be, and everything that is. Therefore from any point you access everything.

Matter is created by the transferring of energy from fourth density to third density. So the energy from Time-Space which in aspect from the smallest aspect to the largest one contains everye thing and being everything is infinite both ways, the shear fact of it being that enables it to exist.

You could think of 4th density as an entity that is everything because everything in it is connected through intelligent means, and there is a limitless amount of reality in it therefore it creates and dictates realities in the 3rd dimension.

Sacred geometry is ultimately our way of interpreting how this intelligent, cosmic, multi dimensional consciousness works. Vibrations is what makes it all come together and all activate at each point. Vibration in the most general of ways is activity or movement of everything. Vibration forces are simulated through every novel complication the universe manifests. And what is the activity of everything in existance. The transfering of energy to create matter and the lingering energy left in them and that connects them that causes every to happen down to the smallest aspect. So as more and more things keep happening in the third dimension the more energy of everything that is present and the more vibrations there are as a result. This is because the points on the sacred geometry is slowly letting more and more energy go through this and theres more and more pressure and vibrations of the actual geometry itself.

Pittsburgh Progressive Electronic Music Scene

I am one whom really values electronic music as a whole and the potential of an electronic music scene resembling a modern version of "hippyism" in the character and unity of the people whom attend. I am deeply passionate in every aspect of this highly evolved medium of art. Furthermore, the Pittsburgh electronic music scene is a disgrace to what it is supposed to be. People with little or no appreciation for EDM flock to these gatherings where they "get fucked up" and "party" or to make money off their fake drugs. To make it worse, the DJs present the most generic and mainstream aspects of EDM. Like, fuckin' for real, create something new, create diversity.

My dispositions have caused me to start a group on facebook called "Pittsburgh Progressive Electronic Music Scene". The focus of this is to start a new electronic music scene in Pittsburgh based on the musical aspects. I am getting together a group of driven people whom's focus is to divert from the old and create something new, something better, something never done before.....

http://www.buzzfeed.com/mjs538/devastating-pictures-of-the-joplin-missouri-torna

Wow, I really extend my love and compassion as a human beings to those affected by this tragedy, I didn't realize the magnitude of this disaster. However, I feel these disasters are a part of our earth and time itself going through its last cycle before completion of creation.

Lately, people are talking about the same things, more and more aspects of reality and intertwining and becoming one. More and more people are opening up to evolved ideologies and realizations. Something is going on....

Moving Forward

http://gigacrete.com/

My aunt is involved with selling these products, and I am supposed to start selling them in Western PA for the time being actually. This is just another example of how people in all realms of our society are pushing forward for a more sustainable way of living here on planet earth.

On the home page of this website, it states "Green Building Products for The New Industrial Revolution." Unlike the previous industrial revolution, this one will take into account all things in relation to everything else. It will take into account sustainability, ecological protection, and product efficiency.

This company much relates to the goals of the Venus Project. It produces mineral based cement products that create minimal waste and are derived from renewable resources.

Again, we are holding a TZM Pittsburgh meeting this weekend. I am not sure the exact time, but Saturday it will be. As soon as people get back to me whom would like to attend a suitable time for them I wilL announce a time.

It has disturbed me the downgrade of the Pittsburgh electronic music scene, it bothers me to my core, so much that I am very inclined to do something about it.

I am going to start a new Pittsburgh electronic music scene, not based on the notorious drug use and trafficking that is usually associated with raves, but one based on electronic music and the peace, love, unity, and respect value systems that are usually put forth. To do this, I am going to network with people from Carnegie Mellon and Pitt whom currently aren't involved in the crackhead rave scene and work with them and collaborate on ideas to start a new electronic music scene for Pittsburgh. Some ideas for this would be;

1: inclusion of electronic music that is innovative and unique, I don't want DJ's dropping Skrillex and Rusko every set they do. We want to start something unique.

2. MUSIC

3. LOVE

4. LOVE

You say, you want a R3volution!!!

Well, the peaceful gathering of hands went very well I would say. I got a chance to network with some people in the Pittsburgh area whom are artists, filmmakers, and musicians all focused on promoting a peaceful global society as well as a culturally flourishing one. There was free food throughout the gathering and furthermore groups of people dedicated to transition our cyclically consumptive and materialistic world into a more ecologically friendly, sustainable, and humane society. Speaking of such, listen to this track by my friend, I have been talking to him quite a bit lately and he just finished this track and I find it extremely relevant to what I just stated.

Apathy by Extract

This track is really cool!!

Warships by Dark MatteR

So I am taking a bit more initiation in my activism to assist massive societal and global change. A while back my friend Will Fleming started The Zeitgeist Movement Pittsburgh chapter. After a while he changed his political/social dispositions. Therefore, he withdrew from being the leader of the Pittsburgh chapter. I have made the decision to become the new Pittsburgh leader hence starting up weekly meetings for TZM Pittsburgh. Furthermore, I am going to generalize my blog and really broaden what my blog is.

I think a great way to start TZM Pittsburgh is to collectively brainstorm goals and follow through with each one of them. My goals are such:

1. Create a broad network of members in Pittsburgh who are willingly going to involve themselves in what we can DO locally to initiate change.

2. Exponentially increase the network

3. Iniatiate projects relating to proper education, environmental awareness, protection, and regeneration and so on and so forth.

4. Diligently remain connected as a group; frequent group discussions on the internet, and frequent group meetings.

5. PUSH for change

Anyway, I hope you all can help me out :)

TZM Pittsburgh

My social ideas go hand in hand with the Venus Project and The Zeitgeist Movement. If you aren't familiar with them, TZM addresses the broadest of aspects of our society, the problems that exist within it, why those problems are there, and solutions that would be most effective and relevant in process for those problems. It addresses the obselesence and illegitimacy of the monetary system. It promotes as system designed around nature and particularly focusing on human needs without harming the earth or creating something that is unsustainable.

The Venus Project addresses the technical aspects: the technology used to set up a very advanced, humane, and ecologically friendly infrastructure. Furthermore, it advocates a resource based economy. A resource based economy is when we prioritize and design our methods of production and distribution around human needs, sustainability, and looking at the planet as a system of interlocking and interconnected systems that make up one bigger thing. We make decisions not based on monetary economics but what truly is best for the people and for the planet.

Furthermore I am restarting weekly meets for TZM Pittsburgh.

But soon I am to do an interview with this producer being I am really impressed with his work. It comes to a big surpise to me, that for the integrity of his productions, there aren't very many plays on his tracks. That needs to change, this producer is amazing and needs to get the exposure he deserves.

Effort To Move Things Forward

Being of the detrimental status quo of human society and furthermore it's negative effects ecologically and environmentally, We must band together to create a movement based on the most universal ways of spreading knowledge and awareness and even take a step forward to get a larger group together in unison with their collaborative thought.

Our existing society demeans human beings in every which way one could imagine. Not only does the profit motive drive people to abandon the needs and well being of human beings, but it causes much detriment to our environment.

Our system is illogical being that it is unsustainable. It is nothing short of insanity to put in jeopardy the future of our planet, our species, and all other species and life forms that exist on our earth.

For too long many have kept their thought process within the rules of the game which inherently had no relevance to anything to us. It was the most obvious thing all along, the most general aspect of our system; monetary economics.

We must design a system that works with the ways of nature, not in opposition of it.

So I feel as though some event of epic proportions is bound to happen within the next few days. I have been pondering about the "Peaceful Gathering of Hands" and I feel that that event is extremely significant for the local progression of society. It puts forth the value premises of a resource based economy and furthermore promotes collaborative thought, communal living, and peaceful function in society. I am actively participating with this event and am even volunteering to set it up. It is another big step in making the changes necessary to bring about a world of peace, love, unity, and respect.

Today is an Interesting DAY! Interview with Bit Glitch!

Today I am doing an interview with Bit Glitch, if you aren't already familiar with him here is his sound cloud.

http://soundcloud.com/bitglitch

Here is his Facebook

http://www.facebook.com/bitglitch

Ok, HERE WE GO!

Q: How would you describe your music? How would you descibe both your method and and attitude towards producing electronic music?

A:The music I make is mostly dubstep and drumstep, mixed with some 8bit video games synths. I like my bass lines heavy and filthy, but I can't have them without some old school video game melodies. I try to give my songs some sort of flow, something that you could dance to if you wanted to. For the majority of my music I use Ableton and Fruity Loops, but am not limited to those 2 programs.

Q: How long have you been producing?

A: I've been working on learning how to produce music for roughly 8 months now. The past 3 months though, I've been working on overdrive

Q: What inspired you to make electronic music?

A: Well, I've been making music my whole life. Started playing drums when I was just a little kid, but I never got the idea to make EDM until I went to a rave with my buddy out in the middle of a forest. I sort of had an epiphany while I was there, that I could be doing what the DJ's there were doing, that it didn't look too hard.

Q: How is the electronic music scene in your area?

A: There wasn't one at all! That is until my buddy Jynx and I (with help from lots of people!) set up our cities first Dubstep event back in April. It did extremely well though. We will at least be having 1 or 2 events a month now.

Q: What would you say is the most popular sub genre in your area?

A: Well, since there's never really been an EDM scene here, a lot of the people here have only got to listen to dubstep and a little bit of electro house. I'd say dubstep is the most popular genre here.

Q: Are you strongly connected within your local community of producers and djs? Nationally? Internationally?

A: I'd say I'm pretty connected with my local community. I talk to almost every artist that's anywhere from around here. I have DJ/Producer friends spread all across the country, whether it be Jersey, North Carolina, Florida, or New York. Internationally, I've made friends with a lot of helpful people, mostly from the UK.

Q: Do you feel that the uprising of technology via the internet via sound cloud could spark a possible cultural revolution being sound cloud is a growing community of producers that produce their music out of shear ambition and not for the purpose of monetary gain?

A: Hasn't it already? I made my start on Soundcloud and find it to be amazing ! Soundcloud motivates many great artist to make music, and seem to be growing every day. If you aren't using it, I don't know what you're doing haha.

Q: How many shows have you played? Any festivals?

A: Well, seeing as I started to learn how to DJ at the same time I started to produce, it hasn't been too long. I've held off from doing any gigs in the beginning, because I wanted to focus solely on getting better at making music, and actually getting my music out there. I want to be able to play my own music, not someone else's. I just did my first event in April, and currently have 3 booked in the next 2 months.

Q: What other producers do you admire in the current electronic music scene?

A: I'd have to say my favorites right now are, J. Rabbit, Helicopter Showdown, Getter, NiT GriT, Doctor P, Roksonix, Funtcase, and Figure. and KhemehK!

Q: Do you agree with me that dubstep really is a special genre because it has become so versatile and is increasingly so?

A:I think Dubstep is a special genre, it's also a new genre that's trying to find it's place. I think it will keep evolving until it finds that perfect spot.

Q: Would you say your strengths lie in mixing or producing?

A: I'd say producing. It's been my main focus the past few months, but now that I'm almost done with my album that's dropping next month (hopefully) I will be starting to mix more and do more shows.

Q: Have you collaborated with any other producers? If not, do you plan to?

A: I haven't yet, but on my upcoming album there are 5 producers doing remixes for me. I'm currently working with KhemehK on a track that's being released on a separate EP, and it's coming along great! I have plans to work with MANY artists in the near future.

Q: What are you working on currently that is not released yet to sound cloud?

A: Well, I'm working on all the songs dropping on my album: "I Don't Give A Fuck", "I Shoot Lazers", "Glitch It", "Beast", and another that I just started. I'm also working on remastering my Androidz tracks and releasing a VIP for those. Working on a new Donnie Darko themed song, and another one themed around the Evil Dead/Army of Darkness movies. I'm also doing a collab with KhemehK that we just started, and already it's amazing !

Q: What equipment do you use to DJ?

A: To DJ, I do most of my work on my APC and Ableton. I also used my Axiom 49 keyboard, but I will be replacing that in future shows with some new equipment.

So, I wanna share an event that I got invited to via facebook.

http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=167739843281457

It's called a peaceful gathering of hands. The premise is to bring a wide variety of people together so they can therefore share there thoughts, ideas, art, music, and food. It really is taking a whole new step in our world becoming peaceful, resourceful, and communal.

I myself plan to bring my art that is photographic collages to show there. I as well will bring forth my ideas and writing to find people I can network and collaborate with.

Interview With Beazt

1. How would you describe your music? How would you descibe both your method and and attitude towards producing electronic music?

1. My music is mostly Dub Step and Drum and Bass, but I like all types of electronic music and plan on producing Dub Step, DNB, House, and even some chill wave stuff. I tend to make some grimy sounds but love the chill melodies and the softer side. My music is Heavy, Fun, and entertaining, something to bob your head to, it keeps you’re attention through out the song and I really try to make sounds that I have never heard before. When I make a song I rarely have a idea of what its going to be, I try not to plan it out and just let the inspiration flow and free myself to the universe and the song writes it self. I love making music, it’s its like a painting or a giant puzzle and when all the pieces are together you have a huge accomplishment, it doesn’t matter if anyone else like it its art however you look at it.

2. What program(s) do you use for production?

2. I use Logic 9, and Komplete ( fm8, massive, reaktor, Kontakt , Kore ) But my favorite synth is by far RAZOR from native instruments its where the BEAZT sound comes from.

3. How long have you been producing?

3. I have been producing electronic music for almost three months. One of my best friends “The Plague” and I split Komplete and Logic and have been working hard since February of 2011.

4. What inspired you to make electronic music?

4. I love electronic music , even as a child I was running the outs from my TV to a tape deck and would record video game songs, like space harrier and Tetris. So the music inspired me to write music the sounds the beats. I also have my best buds to thank for inspiration, The Plague, Teeel, and the infamous Com Truise. I have also been a dj for years and thought it was time to play my own tunes.

5. How is the electronic music scene in your area?

5. It’s a solid scene in the NJ Philly area with multiple parties a month going off. I try to get out and support as much as I can but lately I have been staying and focusing on production.

6. I would say house music is the most popular music in my area, though dub step has been catching allot of ears. The house djs play dub step and the drum and bass djs play dub step so its been crossing some serious barriers. I would like to mention that Philly is known for its DNB scene, it’s not as strong as it was but parties still go off on the regular and that’s where you will find me.

7, Are you strongly connected within your local community of producers and djs? Nationally? Internationally?

7. I wouldn’t say that I am very connected with local artist, or international artists only those I talk to through soundcloud.

8. Do you feel that the uprising of technology via the internet via sound cloud could spark a possible cultural revolution being sound cloud is a growing community of producers that produce their music out of shear ambition and not for the purpose of monetary gain?

8. I sure hope that with technology and music we can change the world, but to many people only listen to what the radio and the TV plays, “the mass’s” need to get off their asses and search for quality music and truth. I feel there will be a revolution in the coming years and the only thing we have to rely on is technology and the genius of the human mind to recreate our future with technology and resources as the focus not money and profit.

9. How many shows have you played? Any festivals?

9. I have been DJing for many years and have played countless shows, clubs, and venues with some of the biggest artist in the world such as John B, Evol Intent Dylan, and Tech Itch just to name a few.

10. What other producers do you admire in the current electronic music scene?

10. I admire The Plague Helicopter Showdown, Sluggo, Reso, John B, Evol Intent, Audio, TEEEL, Com Truise.

11. Do you agree with me that dubstep really is a special genre because it has become so versatile and is increasingly so?

11. I think Dub Step is special because many people can relate to it and many people who might not normally enjoy electronic music can get down to the groovy beats. I do feel that it is like DNB was ten years ago it’s going through its transformation and evolving and it’s an amazing thing to watch it happen and be a part of it!

12. What producers inspired you to producer the music you produce?

12. I would say I started making music because I love the music not because any particular producers inspired me.

13. Would you say your strengths lie in mixing or producing?

13. I would say my strengths are in Mixing for sure because I have been spinning for over ten years, but I am quickly getting stronger at production and working hard at increasing the quality of my music.

14. Have you collaborated with any other producers? If not, do you plan to?

14. Right now I am working with The Plague and we have started GRINDHOUSE (BEAZT & The Plague) there are other producers we would like to work with in the future and hopefully those project will start to materialize soon.

15. What are you working on currently that is not released yet to sound cloud?

15. GRINDHOUSE is working on a six song EP for Foul Play Records.

16. What are your thoughts on your preference program for producing music?

16. I use Logic 9 and I love it, it gives a great sound out of the box. I have tried Reason and Abelton and Logic seems fit my style of writing the best.

17. What equipment do you use to dj?

17. I have two Pioneer 800 MK2’s and a Behringer pro 4000 digital mixer two KRK Rockit 6 two KRK rockit 5 and a KRK rockit 10 sub for studio monitors.

18. How socially accepted/popular is electronic music in your area?

18. Electronic Music is very accepted since I live next to NY City Philly and Trenton, it is very common to hear electronic music at the bars and clubs in the area. Often you will hear dub step or house being blasted from someone’s vehicle.

19. How do you feel about the status quo of planet earth?

19. Planet earth has been on a cycle for millions of years and I feel that we are entering a new period where we will see many changes. The people on this planet need to break free from the slavery called the monetary system and do what is right for humanity and the planet. We have the technology and resources to be a great species but we let money and profit blind us from what is truly important.

Wake up America!

So Osama Bin Laden is dead and many peoples reaction to this event implicates that they actually are indoctrinated to believe that Osama Bin Laden and terrorists in the middle east actually have relevance to our lives and somehow the downfall of them symbolizes the long fought war. Our gov't and social systems are the real terrorists, they are the ones who suppress us, exploit us, jail us, and ultimately abuse and demean our true human aspect. It is an outrage that people do not see our situation for really what it is, we are fooled by the media that we have to worry about some terrorists in the middle east and some guy in a cave that is now dead when in reality, the things the government is doing to so many people, not to mention our beautiful mother earth and it's many features, is so horrific and exploitative that they need something like terrorists or Osama Bin Laden to distract from what is really going on.

To submit to an exploitative power is disrespectful to our race. It is time where everyone realizes this and takes a collective effort to stand up to the one's in power and ultimately stand up for the human aspect of all of us.

No more will we be submissive to a government that controls us, demeans our true human value, dictates our freedom, suppresses our economic health, destroys our home (the earth), abuses our animals for the sake of profit and free market, suppress the use of mind expanding substances, perpetually pushes hard drugs by means of bringing them into the country and then busting the people who do them, and really lies to us in all aspects and brutally tortures those whom try to bring truth to the public. FUCK YOU AMERICAN GOVERNMENT!!

Interview with Shkspr

1. How would you describe your music? How would you descibe both your method and and attitude towards producing electronic music?
A: Currently I have lots of different projects going on. I play keys in a progressive rock band for which i’m writing music with my bandmate, and i also make electronic music, ambient, idm stuff, post-rock influenced stuff, and lately, filthier dubstep stuff. So i don’t really know how to describe it, maybe i have an advantage of having perspective and trying to stand out that way. On the other hand, I’m trying to keep things seperate, i’ve got three soundcloud accounts and i don’t try to combine prog with dubstep or anything like that, but having different experiences in different genres and having a broad taste in music deffinetely helps me try to keep things interesting.

2. What program(s) do you use for production?
A: I use Ableton’s Live with it’s instruments and plugins (NI’s Massive for dubstep a lot, surprise surprise, i know). I experiment with samples a lot too.

3. How long have you been producing?
A: I’ve been making music in some shape or form after i started playing the piano at the age of 9, and been producing electronic stuff with ableton for a few years, and dubstep seriously for maybe half a year plus.

4. What inspired you to make electronic music?
A: Maybe some Radiohead songs with lots of electronic influences from Kid A and Amnesiac, I was also inspired by the sounds of Aphex Twin, World’s End Girlfriend, Tim Hecker, Jaga Jazzist, Xploding Plastix, to name a few... also making electronic music is so much different compared to acoustic, or ‘band’ music with its endless demoing and rehearsals and chasing for band members and what not. I saw electronic music attractive because it let me be totally independent and make all the crazy sounds i wanted and the end result would always be final.

5. How is the electronic music scene in Finland?
A: It’s alright. There are couple of places in Helsinki and in other cities too like Tampere that have lots of jungle and dubstep type of dj:s playing there and keeping the scene alive but otherwise it’s pretty basic mainstream Rihanna, Lady Gaga shit that you hear everywhere. And in those venues in Helsinki where I usually find myself in I always see the same faces week after week, so yeah i guess the scene is pretty small. Nothing wrong with those faces though. We have some great producers/dj’s in finland as well like Infekto (Rico Tubbs), Tes La Rok, Desto, Muffler and LAOS

6. What would you say is the most popular sub genre in the electronic music scene in Finland?
A: Apart from the electronic pop radio shit? Can’t really say. Probably house.

7, Are you strongly connected within your local community of producers and djs? Nationally? Internationally?
A: Not really no, maybe it’s because i’ve been doing this (edm) for such a short time.

8. Do you feel that the uprising of technology via the internet via sound cloud could spark a possible cultural revolution being sound cloud is a growing community of producers that produce their music out of shear ambition and not for the purpose of monetary gain?
A: Well it’s revolutionary that now there’s no need for a middle man between the creator and the consumer. I can just come across some badass tune and download it for free or maybe the artist has put his tunes on itunes and other places via tunecore and the likes. The label helps a lot though but maybe it’s more for promotional purposes and really helping the artist brake than anything else.

9. How many shows have you played? Any festivals?
A: Haven’t done any of that yet, maybe in the future, i’m just warming up here ;)

10. What other producers do you admire in the current electronic music scene?
A: Burial, Shigeto, Teebs, James Blake, Mount Kimbie, Four Tet, Baths, Flying Lotus, Tokimonsta, Gold Panda, Dimlite, Pantha Du Prince, Noveller, Deru, Krazy Baldhead, Fennesz, Tim Hecker, Belong, Aus, Loscil, Oneohtrix Point Never, Trentemoller, Ital Tek, Pixelord, Moresounds, Eskmo, Datsik, Excision, Liquid Stranger, Skrillex, Flux Pavillion, Emalkay, Bare Noize, Funtcase, Cookie Monsta, Vaski, 16bit, Bar9, Reso, Phace, Spor, Feed Me, Deadmau5, Noisia, Koan Sound, Benga, Skream, Artwork, Kryptic Minds, Synkro and Mala off the top of my head

11. Do you agree with me that dubstep really is a special genre because it has become so versatile and is increasingly so?
A: Yeah, if you think about where it began and where it is now, for better or worse, it has changed and evolved a lot, becoming more and more versatile. And the fact that it’s becoming more mainstream which I find cool in a way, while others don’t like it at all, truly makes it the genre of our generation.

12. What producers inspired you to producer the music you produce?
A: When it comes to dubstep, i’d have to say Excision and Datsik, I had to try it out and make some sick sounds myself. Also Eskmo inspired me a lot.

13. Would you say your strengths lie in mixing or producing?
A: Definetly producing. I don’t mix a lot. Sure i can mix, beat sync and all that basic stuff and i sometimes mix at home for fun. I’ll start mixing more when i’ll start performing live.

14. Have you collaborated with any other producers? If not, do you plan to?
A: No I haven’t yet. Maybe the revolution that is soundcloud will help me with that.

15. What are you working on currently that is not released yet to sound cloud?
A: More filth on it’s way, probably.

16. What are your thoughts on your preference program for producing music?
A: Ableton Live is awesome. The session view where you don’t have to worry about time line and where you can sketch ideas, produce, perform songs with launching clips, or even dj is something you don’t get that with any other program. And the warping engine is really essential when remixing or sampling and playing with loops. The MPC style grooves are also very nice. The built in effects and intstruments are great too, although I couldn’t live without my plugins. Get Max for Live on top of that and you can die a happy man.

17. What equipment do you use to dj?
A: I’m not really a dj, but i have some experience with Traktor and an ancient Pioneer cdj setup..

18. How socially accepted/popular is electronic music in your area?
A: Well almost everything is electronic nowadays in one form or another, so people accept it and it is popular. Though there are always those people who loathe every electronic genre, just out of principle, but those people are just narrow minded.

19. How do you feel about the status quo of planet earth?
A: Status Quo? I hate that band. No but seriously the economy, natural disasters, global warming, natural resources, war... not looking too good.

Interview With Aeon Pulse

1. How would you describe your music? How would you descibe both your method and and attitude towards producing electronic music?
I can say my music is a place where I put all the things I want to say, but there's no words for it. I like to mix emotions on it. Some musics inspires happiness, other sadness, angry, calm, dreams, freedom... It's hard to say, it's a lot of sensations.

2. What program(s) do you use for production?
I use Steinberg Cubase 5, and I just love it! In addiction, a lot of plugins of course and all that stuff.

3. How long have you been producing?
Have been three years since I've started to make electronic music.

4. What inspired you to make electronic music?
The energy, the good vibrations. Psytrance is a full energy sound and I love that.

5. How is the electronic music scene in Brazil?
It's huge and it's growing more and more! Wherever you go have a party to dance.

6. What would you say is the most popular sub genre in the electronic music scene in Brazil?
Electro House and Tech House. These kind of music play everywhere around here.

8. Do you feel that the uprising of technology via the internet via sound cloud could spark a possible cultural revolution being sound cloud is a growing community of producers that produce their music out of shear ambition and not for the purpose of monetary gain?
This is a nice question. SoundCloud is a revolucionary tool in the music world. Since the failure of MySpace, the artists was needing a stage to appear to the world, then comes SoundCloud. About monetary gain, nothing can change it. Some people produces for love, others for money, and the major part for both.

9. How many shows have you played? Any festivals?
Many places, and I just closed my first international show two days ago. Will be a electronic music festival in Mexico at december. I'm very excited to it! Will be awesome.

10. What other producers do you admire in the current electronic music scene?
Infected Mushroom, Bizzare Contact, Electro Sun. These ones are my Top 3. Infected Mushroom first.

11. I really like your dubstep/psytrance track, Do you agree with me that dubstep really is a special genre because it has become so versatile and is increasingly so?
Absolutely! I've heard a lot of Dubstep tracks in the past few days, and all of then is different each other. Completely different styles in the same genre.

12. What producers inspired you to producer the music you produce?
I can say the same three I said before (Infected Mushroom, Bizzare Contact and Electro Sun), plus Red Hot Chili Peppers. They are not electronic producers but I just love their music since I started to play guitar eleven years ago.

14. Have you collaborated with any other producers? If not, do you plan to?
Yes, I did with some friends like Static Insane (Which one is coming with me to Mexico in december), Solaris and Eric Farias (Upcoming Electro House artist! Remember this name!).

15. What are you working on currently that is not released yet to sound cloud?
I have a important track called "Like an Angel" that isn't on SoundCloud. Today it's my mainly track at the shows. Have a strong voice line and I love it hahaha.

DUB DUB DUB

DEATHSTEP!! WOOT WOOT!!

http://soundcloud.com/mantisdubstep

This producer from Atlanta is flat out amazing. I have a keen ear for deathstep. I am really intrigued by the Excision Subsonic remix. Very hard and heavy. I really like how dubstep has become integrated with death metal. Dubstep within itself has many qualities that run parallel to metal.

TOTALLY UNRELATED RANTS:

For everything to exist as it is it has to be a complete, interconnected system of everything that every was, will be, and is, down to the smallest aspect and to the largest scale. But being of infinite amount of decimal places and numerical places, there is no smallest or largest aspect therefore it keeps going and that is why everything exists as it does. It is one thing...

Drum N' Bass

It seems today being dubstep is becoming the main focus in the electronic music scene, drum n bass seems to be on a lower radar lately. Today I discovered a mainly dnb producer that I really like. A lot of drum n bass being produced now is too low key for me. I prefer drum n bass that is more bassy and more active. Drum n bass that is closer evolved to dubstep- i.e. Dieselboy's newest mix. This drum n bass producer I discovered is called Ekol. They are out of Britain, and their tracks are very smooth but very active, as drum n bass should be.

Interview with Distrikt

Distrikt is a dubstep producer from the Netherlands whom I discovered via sound cloud.

1. How would you describe your music? How would you descibe both your method and and attitude towards producing electronic music?

A: I would describe my style as next generation dubstep. I always try to add new and unusual elements to my tracks, To my opinion straight up wubs are overdone.. you dont hear much musicality anymore. Producers now a days spend more time on the technical stuff, instead of working on the arrangement and making it sound like music..

2. What program(s) do you use for production?

A: I use a lot of different sequencers while making my tracks. I personally love to make some sounds first in Ableton Live or Fl Studio. and then render them out as wav so i can tweak around with them a litte more, When i record my vocals or doing a mixdown I use Logic or either Protools. Then you get that quality sound!

3. How long have you been producing?

A: I've Been producing since i was a little kid. I think i was 11. Spending days on making Hiphop Beats and producing styles such as Breakcore, Drum and Bass, Ambient, Minimal, Dancehall, Reggae and so on.. i also played in a lot of bands in different genres such as : Funk, Nu-metal, Soul, Ska, Reggae. With singing, keys, drums and percussion as my main instruments.

This is what i try to bring forward in my music. i try to approach dubstep more as a song in the arrangement then just straight up Intro... Drop... Kick in...16bars..intro... drop...

4. What inspired you to make electronic music?

A: I started with making electronic music because of my bands. I always had riffs and lines in my head which i could'nt explain to others. This frustrated me so much that I started my own one-man -band.. recording everything myself.

5. How is the electronic music scene in the Netherlands?

A: There is a very broad electronic scene In The Netherlands. On this moment the most popular styles in music are Dirty Dutch, House, Fidget and Dubstep. I love the dubstep and fidget crowd the most coz they usually go bananas ;)

6. What would you say is the most popular sub genre in the electronic music scene in the Netherlands?

A: Electro/House

7. Are you connected?

A: Yes always have been. nationally and internationally.

8. Do you feel that the uprising of technology via the internet via sound cloud could spark a possible cultural revolution being sound cloud is a growing community of producers that produce their music out of shear ambition and not for the purpose of monetary gain?

A: The Internet has really helped me to get where I am now. Good producers always have to charge money for their work. coz it's their work and they need to make a living as well.
I think it's fine that beginners get their chances to drop their music online and let others check it out and comment on it. Though i think that if you dont have any musicality in you, that you should'nt pollute the scene with it, coz you get so much more crap on the market by making it this easy to spread you music. Wait till you know you've got a killertrack that is well mixed and well produced. You'll have so much more in hands then.

9. How many shows have you played? Any festivals?

A: With my bands i played on a lot of festivals. But this is the first year i'm going to be spinning records on festivals worldwide.
As a Dj i have done like 65 Gigs now. coz this is the first year I'm actually doing gigs as a DJ

10. What other producers do you admire in the current electronic music scene?

A: I'm a underground music lover but also like the upcoming artists, shout out to : Sinister Souls, Robokop, Affe Maria, Zjasp-Air, Devnik, Eptic, Jogo, Torqux, Stereologue, Kaizoku,
My unchanged personal favorites remained the same : NOISIA! The best in sounddesign mixdowns and arrangements to my opinion.

11. Do you agree with me that dubstep really is a special genre because it has become so versatile and is increasingly so?

A: Yes, What I love about Dubstep the most is that I can go in different ways with each track.. sometimes i have a track and i just make 4 versions of it and then decide which version i'm using.

12. What producers inspired you to producer the music you produce?

A: Producers like Dimlite, Louis Bordeaux, Broken Note, Trentemoller, J.Dilla and Flying Lotus

13. Would you say your strengths lie in mixing or producing?

A: Then I would say producing. I do all my mixdowns myself as well, and even tho I let my tracks being mastered, for some reason i always like my own version the most.
But because i spend so much time with my bands back in the days i have som many different approaches to a song which really helps me in the proces of the making.

14. Have you collaborated with any other producers? If not, do you plan to?

A: Yes done lots of collabs. Have an E.P. Coming up With Robokop (FIRE EP) Forthcoming on MWM-Recordings (NL). Also an E.P. Coming with my crazy ape Affe Maria Forthcoming on Betamorph recordings (USA) I recently did a couple of tracks with Zjasp-Air, One of them (Printer Drive-By) is now out on Chronos Recordings(UK) On the Farmville EP. Also have an EP upcoming with Torrid Dubstep from Belgium. (Basscake EP) More info about that soon. also plan to do collabs soon with N1cksn, Sinister Souls, Sterelogue, Korkey Buchek and more...

15. What are you working on currently that is not released yet to sound cloud?

A: Im working on a lot of new things but i'm not telling you yet. What i will tell you is that I recently did a 5 track EP for an artist who you will here about in the upcoming months.
I will also be giving away some fresh Freebees soon so be on the look out! ;)

16. What are your thoughts on your preference program for producing music?

A: Like i said i'm using multiple sequencers so every one has its ups and downs..

17. What equipment do you use to dj?

A: Pioneer Cdj 350's White editions and a Reloop RMX-40 DSP LTD (Mixer). Can also spin with traktor But i don't like that as much as the feel of Cd's or either vinyl. I think traktor is more for the deejays that cant count theirselfs. Being like SYNC SYNC SYNC SYNC and then still " trainwrecking" in every transition...

18. How socially accepted/popular is electronic music in your area?

A: When I spin in The Netherlands i always get a decent crowd bangin with me.. 2 months ago when the farmville e.p. got released My label came up to me with the question if they could do my gigs in the future. so then i will be spinning more through Europe. In my hometown I always get the crowd going :)

19. How do you feel about the status quo of planet earth?

A: Que? Dubstep is taking over! Keep it filthy but keep it musical as well! PO!

Interview With Rob Kral

1. How would you describe your music? How would you descibe both your method and and attitude towards producing electronic music?

A: I like to think of my music as being very experimental, I like having no boundaries and being able to do what I want to do, which is the beauty computer based music these days, the sky is the limit. As for my attitude I just hop on and do my thing! But in all seriousness meditating actually helps me a lot.

2. What program(s) do you use for production?

A: For my main production I use Logic Pro 9, how ever I will use fruity loops at times to WAV things over to Logic. I also have Ableton 8 but I haven’t had the time to use it yet unfortunately.

3. How long have you been producing?

A:I didn’t hop on the computer until about 3 years ago, but I’ve been making music for over 8 years now. First instrument I picked up was a guitar, it’s incredible where music will take you.

4. What inspired you to make electronic music?

A:Pretty much everything has inspired me to make this kind of music (especially living in Chi-town), everything is changing and it’s never easy to say what will happen next which gives it that thrill. Like I said before the sky is the limit with this style of music because you can go in any direction possible.

5. How is the electronic music scene in Chicago?

The electronic scene in Chicago right now is MASSIVE there are little dubsteppers everywhere! I’m constantly getting show invites on facebook of all sorts of artists coming through here which is dope. Several times weekly there are artists of all kinds from all over the world. Chicago is the perfect place for music because EVERYTHING that come through this city, were like a big hurricane of music sucking things in and spitting new things out.

6. What would you say is the most popular sub genre in the electronic music scene in Chicago?

I would definitely say dubstep and glitch but of course it’s not limited to just that, although jam bands are making a great come back as well.

7, Are you strongly connected within your local community of producers and djs? Nationally? Internationally?

I try to make as many contacts as I can, especially when going to shows and meeting new artists. The great thing about this city ( in this scene) is that almost everybody knows each other, it’s really beautiful.

8. Do you feel that the uprising of technology via the internet via sound cloud could spark a possible cultural revolution being sound cloud is a growing community of producers that produce their music out of shear ambition and not for the purpose of monetary gain?

I sure hope so! Soundcloud has done a lot for me, it’s very inspiring to hear peoples wacky tunes from the other side of the world, all for free too. I highly expect it to keep growing and soon blow up into something bigger. It gives everyone the chance to share what they have created musically.

9. How many shows have you played? Any festivals?

I haven’t played any major shows, no festivals. I’m mainly strictly production at this point in time so I can perfect my sound, (i’m very anal about it and over analyze everything till I get it where I want it) With the contacts I’ve made I can expect to be throwing down at the clubs in the next year just in time for 2012..

10. What other producers do you admire in the current electronic music scene?

I would say Freddy Todd(glitch) because he’s become so much in such a short amount of time, really amazing what the guy can do to sound. If you haven’t heard of his stuff you should totally check it out.

11. Do you agree with me that dubstep really is a special genre because it has become so versatile and is increasingly so?

I totally agree. It’s flooding the world!

12. What producers inspired you to producer the music you produce?

Almost everyone I’ve ever listened to has been my inspiration, the people I look up to are Eskmo and Amon Tobin because they approach their music in such a beautiful way that it’s really indescribable. They take random natural everyday sounds and turn them into works of art. I could probably fart into a microphone and they would turn it into something awesome as fuck!

13. Would you say your strengths lie in mixing or producing?

My strength is definitely with producing, I haven’t had much time to mess around with the Dj aspect of my music.

14. Have you collaborated with any other producers? If not, do you plan to?

I mainly collab with my good friends, I really hope I get to to do some collaborations with people I really admire in the future!

15. What are you working on currently that is not released yet to sound cloud?

I’ve been getting into field recording, just recording natural sounds and turning it into something awesome. (more like sound FX and trippy things to add to my music)

16. What are your thoughts on your preference program for producing music?

I was first introduced to logic so thats why I stick with it, you can do SO much in this program, I just don’t see my self moving on to something else entirely. But it’s all a matter of what your comfortable with.

17. What equipment do you use to dj?

Well I’m not really Djing right now, but my main tool is my Korg nano Kontrol and my Akai MPK25 which is truly an awesome machine. I also recently just picked up a mic made by BLUE so I can make my own samples and field record. But all in all it’s not about the gear you have it’s weather or not you know how to use it.

18. How socially accepted/popular is electronic music in your area?

I live in the north shore, so it’s finally just starting to leak it’s way up here but it’s really down town where it pops.

19. How do you feel about the status quo of planet earth?

Complete shit. Not to offend anyone. But something inside me is keeping me going and making me extremely anxious for something big to come. People seem to becoming more aware of whats going on around them and this is good. I hope the best for planet earth. I hope to see aliens very soon as well ;)
