Literary Remarks

I feel as though to devote this entry totally to word to put forth my musical philosophical dispositions.....As I introduce music every other entry I feel it is time to delve deep within my rederict..... I am fascinated as to the relevance of subject matter to a song and so on and so forth. As I was discussing with my friend earlier today, it used to be common to have very thought focused and concept based lyrics...For example....David Bowie's album Diamond Dogs focuses on the concepts within the book 1984 by George Orwell. He even changes perspective from song to song and references that book so much in detail that you have to thoroughly read and understand both the book and David Bowie himself to understand the full intended meaning of each track....... However, it doesn't take much to understand a Gucci Mane or Rick Ross track. Bitches, money, weed, drugs, blah blah blah thats all their is to it. To me it represents a total distortion of truths and values within our culture that has seemingly manifested due to a dominating finance system that was put in place, well, sometime ago, but it has progressed and turned into something totally different...... You don't have to study fuckin' literature to understand today's mainstream music which I think in a way has something to do with the lack of interest in literature and knowledge in my generation, no longer are people forced to learn and such but rather they are greatly influenced to self indulge on the basis that it purely drives or eco-cidal economic system. The status quo is only held by its self-appointed guardians and they push out this schlock because its fuckin' profitable not because its musically prominent.
